The seed sucker™ foundation purchases trees from certified RootMaker tree growers.
Dr. Carl Whitcomb developed a container that has changed the horticulture industry forever! These containers are called RootTrappers and were designed specifically to grow a healthier and stronger tree. Partially by slowing water exit, partially by the white outer surface keeping the root system cooler, and partially because this container is creating hundreds of thousands of new root tips which make absorption more efficient.
In just 3 years, a nursery using the RootMaker System can grow a tree that it would normally require 5 years or more in a standard nursery. RootTrappers are lighter to ship compared to ANY B&B tree which is a heavy soil ball. (Less fuel to transport.)
Then there is the "big picture"... B&B trees may have 90% root loss at harvest. What few roots remain are large, cut, in shock and oriented mostly downward. A RootTrapper-grown tree is equipped with the most fibrous root system that can be grown. Having hundreds of thousands of more roots, this means that the tree has been given the best chance to send out (horizontally, rather than just down) new roots into the surrounding soil and establish rapidly, providing higher transplant survivability.
